Job Description

The UC Davis DataLab seeks to hire an undergraduate web developer to work on several public-facing data exploration platforms. These platforms host and enable data-driven analysis of content that ranges from early modern print to line drawings and woodcut prints. Our ideal candidate will have experience developing websites to improve searchability, enhance usability, and integrate new data streams. In their cover letter, applicants should briefly describe past projects relevant to the current position’s scope.

The position will be a combination of remote and in-person work in the DataLab (Shields Library), in compliance with UC Davis and DataLab policies.

Job Requirements

+ Ability to work both independently and with a diverse team of data scientists and staff members
+ Fluency with the Unix command line
+ Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub
+ Intermediate experience with at least one web scripting language (JavaScript, PHP, etc.)
+ Basic knowledge of one or more database systems (MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.)
+ (Preferred) Basic to intermediate experience using web frameworks (Django, Flask, React, Vue.js, etc.)
+ (Preferred) Basic experience with XML schema
+ (Preferred) Basic experience with Python or R
