RESCHEDULED – Computational Pedagogy Fall Meetup

November 16, 2022 @ 2:10 pm - 4:00 pm

This event is being rescheduled for early in Winter 2023 quarter. Stay tuned for new date and time.

————————–

At the Fall 2022 meetup for the Computational Pedagogy research and learning cluster, we will discuss and help iterate on interactive teaching demos provided by Professors:

  • Titus Brown (VetMed): “Introduction to snakemake for automating sequence analysis”
  • Emily Merchant (Science & Technology Studies): “Using computation to visualize social change”
  • Seth Frey (Communications): “Teaching computational methods to non-computational students

Together, we will:

  • Share and advance pedagogy for hands-on instruction in applied computational thinking.
  • Reflect on how teaching data science does (or doesn’t) fit within existing scholarship on teaching and learning.
  • Connect with other instructors from across campus teaching computational skills to non-majors.

Anyone teaching courses featuring hands-on computational skills to learners from traditionally non-data science majors is encouraged to participate. Can’t make it in person? We’ll be testing out using a meeting Owl with Zoom. Reach out to datalab@ucdavis.edu for the link.
