The English Broadside Ballad Archive (EBBA) reveals a new and improved website today! The new design is the culmination of significant work by several of our DataLab Scholars.

Changes include:

  • A major site re-design including responsive design for mobile browsing.
  • Ballad views have extensive new features! Get information from the text with a single click including top words, a topic histogram which shows which topics from across EBBA are prevalent in a ballad, and a word association network which represents word pair (bigram) occurrences.
  • New visualizations including the cross-archive topic model and a cluster diagram for woodcut impressions.
  • Select ballads now have playable recordings and sheet music transcriptions!

Further upgrades coming soon, including more color images and musical transcriptions.
