Applied Bayesian Statistics

During 2019-2020 academic year, the DataLab is convening an Applied Bayesian Statistics cluster to work through an finalized copy of the recently released 2nd edition of former UC Davis Professor Richard McElreath’s Statistical Rethinking. Most meetings cover a single chapter of the book and focus on discussing Bayesian theory and applications (i.e., chapter content and problem sets), with extensions into the participants’ own work.

Spring 2020 meetings are on alternating Wednesdays, 1:00 – 2:30 PM, starting March 8th. Each week, we’ll discuss the text and problem sets of a single chapter of the Rethinking text, continuing with Chapter 11 on our first meeting of the Spring quarter. Participants are expected to have independently engaged the material between meetings and come prepared with thoughts and confusions.

Due to global pandemic concerns, we will be holding Spring 2020’s meetings remotely via Zoom. Want to attend or have any questions? Contact the graduate student lead, Nick Lashinksy.

What is a Research Cluster? A Research Cluster is an interdisciplinary group of researchers (undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, post docs, staff, etc.) that meet to learn and apply concepts and methods with an aim towards furthering their research capabilities.
