Getting to Know SQL Workshop (part 2)

November 15, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

DESCRIPTION
Learn the basics of SQL in this two-part, hands-on workshop geared for undergraduates and those who prefer a paced, practice-based approach to learning! SQL is a command-driven language used to communicate with relational database management systems. SQL statements are used to perform tasks such as updating or retrieving data from a database, performing calculations, and exporting extracted data to other software for analysis. This workshop series is designed for undergraduate students.

After this workshop learners should be able to:
– perform common SQL commands including: sorting, filtering, calculating values, aggregating, combining data, basic data cleaning (i.e. replace missing values)
– combine commands to construct a query to get to know a database, answer specific questions, and extract subsets of data.
